Why convert your PDFs to EPUB on PDFDocks?
Unlike the PDF editing tools on this site, converting a PDF to EPUB does require uploading the file to our server, because the EPUB format cannot be generated using only JavaScript in the browser. We use Calibre, the world's most widely used free and open-source eBook conversion engine. Your file is uploaded, processed with Calibre, and deleted immediately after conversion. The result is a book with reflowable text that adapts to any reader's screen size — something a fixed-page PDF cannot do on its own. It's important to know that this conversion works much better with text-based PDFs than with scanned documents, since Calibre needs to be able to read the content in order to restructure it.
Will text reflow on my device?

The file is uploaded to our server because it's necessary to process it with Calibre, but it's deleted immediately after conversion. We don't keep copies.
Does it work well with scanned PDFs?

It works much better with text-based PDFs. With scanned documents the result may be poor, since Calibre needs to be able to read the content to restructure it.
Why does this tool upload the file?
