Why protect your PDFs with a password on PDFDocks?
Protecting a PDF with a password makes sense precisely when the content is sensitive: payrolls, contracts, personal data. That's why it's somewhat paradoxical that most online tools ask you to upload that same unencrypted document to an external server before protecting it. In PDFDocks, encryption is done with JavaScript and the Web Crypto API right in your browser, directly on your device: the unprotected PDF never leaves your computer or travels over the internet. We use AES-256 encryption, the same standard used by banks and governments, so the security of the password you choose is real, not just a visual lock. Since everything happens in your browser, you also don't depend on an external server storing—even temporarily—a copy of your document before encrypting it.
Can I add both user and owner passwords?
